The pupils of SS Michael and Peter Junior School celebrated Maths Week from the 12th – 16th October. The pupils love maths and were delighted to explore maths using one of their favourite stories as their theme. Alice in Mathsland AKA Alice in Wonderland was wonderful for opening the pupils’ eyes to Maths in a whole new world. The pupils in Junior and Senior Infants were busy working on patterns for the month of September and so really enjoyed creating patterns for Absolom the Caterpillar and for Cheshire Cat. They enjoyed ordering pictures by number and size also.
First and second class spent October learning all about time. As White Rabbit has taught us it is important not to be late for important dates! All the boys and girls enjoyed playing lots of time games to get familiar with telling the time so they will never be late!
Playing card games is a brilliant maths learning experience. Pupils in all class levels enjoyed playing a variety of games such as Snap, Go Fish and Memory to mention a few. The Queen of Hearts would be so proud of them all.
Some classes also had great fun out and about carrying out Maths Trails and Shape Hunts. Their Maths Eyes have been so busy again this year.
We all love the Mad Hatter and so pupils designed their own ‘Maths Hats’ to celebrate Maths Week 2020. There were some amazing creations that the Mad Hatter would like for his own collection. Well done to all the boys and girls of SS Michael and Peter J.S. Keep the pictures coming, it has been great to see everyone having so much fun.
